An Inquiry by Cherie Aimée

What allows humans and the living world to flourish?

An evolving body of work exploring what it means to live, work and age in ways that are more human, relational and alive.

Introduction

Flourishing Ecology is an evolving inquiry into the conditions that allow a human life to flourish. It brings together the body, relationship, belonging, meaningful participation, aging, care, the living world and the deeper questions that accompany being human.

The work has grown from Cherie Aimée's own experience of profound illness, survival and rebuilding, alongside decades of professional experience, spiritual study, contemplative practice and learning within communities.

Sacred Lineages & Ways of Knowing

Pathways that shaped the work

Flourishing Ecology has been shaped by many pathways of learning, remembrance and lived experience. Some came through formal study and apprenticeship. Others through spiritual traditions, ancestral inquiry, the living world and experiences that changed my understanding of life itself. I hold each with gratitude for the people, cultures, teachers and lineages from which they came.

  • White Buffalo Calf Woman and Lakota teachings

Relationship, reciprocity, sacred responsibility and kinship with the living world.

  • Mary Magdalene and the Rose

Embodiment, devotion, love, grief, death, rebirth and transformation.

  • Evolutionary Astrology

Cycles, archetype, timing and the evolution of a human life.

  • Vinyasa and Yin Yoga

    Union, breath, embodiment and consciousness.

  • Reiki and energetic traditions

Life force, presence, attunement and healing without force.

  • Somatic healing and nervous system work

Survival, regulation, capacity and the intelligence of the body.

  • Yoruba and Traditional Zulu traditions

Apprenticeship, ancestral wisdom, healing, ritual and sacred waters.

  • Near-death experience

A lived encounter with death, consciousness, Spirit and the return to life.

  • Natural rhythms and the living world

Horses, animals, land, water, plants, seasons and the elements as teachers.

  • Ancestral and cultural inheritance

Belonging, cultural memory and finding relationship with what has been lost or interrupted.

These pathways are not offered as a single tradition or belief system. Together, they have shaped the questions at the heart of Flourishing Ecology and my understanding of what allows a human life to flourish.

Kind words

“Her speech about her own near-death experience and health journey had so much incredible depth, emotion and insight about why we are here and how we can live our lives with greater purpose and peace. She delivered her message with such grace, eloquence, passion and wisdom. I left with a greater understanding of taking care of myself, living with greater connection to others and more meaning.”
